DAISY Hill will be looking to secure their first victory in six matches when they visit Eccleshall tomorrow afternoon.

A promising start to the season saw Daisy top the table at one stage, but a torrid run has seen them win just once in their last eight matches.

A 4-1 defeat at the hands of AFC Darwen on Tuesday night saw the club slip to 13th position, eight points above bottom sides Rochdale Town and Northwich Flixton Villa.

Despite sitting bottom of the form table in North West Counties Division One, Craig Thomas’s men could move up as high as eighth place with a win if other results go their way.

Atherton Collieries were not in league action during the week, so they took the opportunity to entertain Garswood United in a friendly.

With a tough match tomorrow at Widnes Vikings, Colls used the match as a fitness test and won convincingly 4-1.

League results elsewhere meant they dropped down to fourth place, but they will hope to make the most of their matches in hand over their fellow promotion contenders.

The men from Alder House travel to Widnes for what will be the first ever meeting of the two sides.

A win could see Colls top the table, but Widnes will provide a stern test, especially as the match will be played on an artificial surface.

Atherton Laburnum Rovers enjoyed an impressive 3-1 victory at home to cross borough rivals Ashton Town on Tuesday evening.

LR took the lead through Mark Ayres, before the visitors equalised.

Kristian Holt settled the match with two goals late on to lift Rovers up to sixth in the table.

Tomorrow, Michael Clegg’s team face arguably their toughest match of the season so far when they play away at third-placed Nelson.

In Evo-Stik Division One North, Radcliffe Borough go in search of their first league win at Prescot Cables.

Kevin Glendon’s side prop up the table after just one point in their first seven matches.
