OLD Boltonians stalwart Harry Lane has been honoured by the Lancashire FA for his 50 years' service to the club.

The honorary life member and club president was presented with a long service medal at the Lancashire FA's annual general meeting last week.

Lane led Old Bolts to a league and cup double as manager in the 1980s and went on to serve as chairman before becoming president.

Current assistant manager Phil Eccleshare says Lane remains a fervent supporter and all the players appreciate his continued service to the club.

"Harry still comes to watch the majority of our games, in all weather, home and away to support the lads" he said.

"He likes to keep his eye in and see how we are getting on, and was the first into the changing room after we won the Lancashire FA Cup this season.

"I know the players really appreciate everything he does for them, especially as he bought them all a drink after the final.

"Harry is a great guy to have around the club, and someone the management team can look up to as well.

"He was the last man to manage a title-winning side before us and did a lot to stabalise the club after that, as chairman and president."
