IT is only two weeks into the North West Counties League season and already our local sides are on the hunt for FA Cup glory.

Atherton LR, who started their league campaign with two heavy defeats, will be hoping to wipe the slate clean and start again when they entertain North East Counties League side Rossington Main in the extra preliminary round of the Cup tomorrow.

Atherton Collieries fared much better last weekend, holding their nerve to win 3-2 at Leek CSOB, but then lost at home to Formby by the same scoreline on Monday.

They now have to pick themselves up for a tough trip to Dinnington Town, also of the NECL.

Daisy Hill suffered their own disappointment on Monday, losing 10-0 against a Bolton Wanderers IX.

Craig Thomas’s side will be praying for better fortunes when Colls’ conquerors Formby visit in the FA Cup.
