Bury set to unveil Chris Brass as David Flitcroft's assistant manager

NEW Bury boss David Flitcroft expects to unveil former Shakers team-mate Chris Brass as his assistant manager tomorrow.

Flitcroft confirmed after yesterday's 1-1 draw at home with Northampton Town - his first match in charge - he had all but concluded negotiations to prise Brass away from his role as Alan Knill’s assistant at Torquay.

“We weren’t far off on Friday, but we just felt he had to be alongside Knilly on Saturday and support him,” said Flitcroft of Brass, who also worked under Knill at Gigg Lane during his time as Bury boss.

“Hopefully Brassy will be here on Monday and we can really start working and get some of the hard miles in."

Flitcroft also revealed he was in talks to tempt Mike Pollitt from Wigan Athletic to become his goalkeeping coach.

“We are still negotiating with Wigan (over Pollitt)," he added.

"We’ve got other people that we are looking at. It’s definitely not a done deal at the minute.”

If we can bring in Brass that will even an old score with Knilly when he and his then assistant walked out on us to join Scunny.

Poor old Torks looks like just when they thought they had turned a corner with a win against the Shrimps that they will lose a key member of their backroom staff.

A penny for Ak's thoughts.Welcome Back Chris i'm sure Alan is pretty brassed off right now hee hee.

Still no word on the proposed signing of Chris Brass from Torquay United though all of their press have said he has said his final farewells and was incredibly popular down there.

Perhaps if we had waited until after the xmas fixtures we might have got away without paying any compensation the way that club is going.

One thing Alan Knill never did during his time at Gigg lane was to leak to the press who he was about to sign now that is the way to act with professionalism and respect.

Yes i know he left us just when we needed him but we got over the line didn't we?.

Of course Brass was at our club long before Knilly showed up so am hoping for repeat success and he could be a vital part of this.
