FULL-TIME: Plymouth Argyle 2 Bury 1
BURY dropped into the League Two relegation places despite a sublime debut goal for Chris Sedgwick.
The veteran midfielder picked his spot from 25 yards to chip Argyle keeper Luke McCormick four minutes after the break to put the JD-outfit back on level terms.
Caolan Lavery had opened the scoring for the home side on 10 minutes after placing a low shot past Brian Jensen following a run past Bury centre-back William Edjenguele.
The Shakers had the better of the second half though after Sedgwick’s leveller.
But Argyle began to come back into the game after Bury captain Craig Jones picked up an injury with all three substitutions having already been used.
And there was little cover on Bury’s right flank as Lewis Alessandra broke free before pulling the ball back for Reuben Reid to tap in the winner from six yards on 78 minutes.
The defeat – Bury’s first since David Flitcroft took charge – was compounded by a late goal blitz from relegation rivals Accrington, who won to to jump above the Shakers to leave them in the drop zone.
