ANTON Forrester fired Bury into the lead after just 43 seconds at home to York today and may well have sealed a long-term deal at the JD Stadium in the process.

Shakers manager David Flitcroft revealed he was in talks with Blackburn over extending the 19-year-old striker’s loan deal until the end of the season following his sixth goal of the season for Bury.

“We are trying to strike a deal with Blackburn to keep Anton,” said Flitcroft, who is keen to pair the youngster up front with another loan signing, Daniel Nardiello, for the remainder of the season - at least.

“I have seen something in him. He has really impressed me. I just think there is more to come.

“If we can keep him this season and potentially do a season-long loan next season I think we would see the best of Anton Forrester.”

Defender Nathan Cameron added to Forrester’s opener inside the opening 20 minutes and while Michael Coulson pulled one back for York in the second half, Bury hung on to claim their first victory under Flitcroft.

The win helped Bury leapfrog York and jump out of the League Two relegation places, moving up to 20th in the table.
