ROTHERHAM striker Daniel Nardiello has agreed to extend his loan deal at Bury until the end of the season, the club has confirmed.

The 31-year-old former Manchester United striker was due to return to the New York Stadium this week after scoring five goals in nine appearances for the Shakers.

But he will now be available for Saturday’s trip to League Two title challengers Chesterfield.

“As many of the fans had hoped, Daniel Nardiello has now signed until the end of season,” a club statement revealed.

“Since arriving on loan from Rotherham on 15 November, Danny has played a large part in turning around the Shakers fortunes and is an integral part of David Flitcroft’s plans for the remainder of the season.”

Perhaps Rotherham would not agree a loan longer than the end of the season?
Perhaps Danny himself didn't want to commit to longer than the end of the season?
There could be a hundred reasons why he was only extended to the end of the season. I would hardly call the board penny pinching.

Also, could be that the gaffer has someone else in mind for next season, or wants to see if Danny continues to put them away.

Lack of information creates these type of questions. Let's have some clarity!!

Eileen. Remember you accuse me of being negative? Your post is not only negative it is short sighted and quite frankly ridiculous. There could be a host of reasons why he has only signed until the end of the season and not one of them to do with Bury FC. Better to use restraint before shooting from the hip and wait until you have the full story. That way you will retain some credibility.

Best news we could have had. We've got the classiest forward in the division playing up front for us. We've seen in the past players brought in, Jemson, Robertson, Gray etc who were put on big money contracts ... and had no interest in the club apart from picking up fat wages. Short contract? .... keeps 'em keen.
Well done the board ... your idealistic approach is laudable ... but coming into a football club laden with history at the wrong end of the football league was always going to be a tough ask. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping my club alive ... and for finally realising that in order to survive, and eventually, to succeed in your dreams (and ours), that only by signing quality players will we achieve that. I'm sure Nardiello could have gone to any number of clubs ... but WE got him. Brilliant!

Good post. You are so right, he could have went back to Rotherham or go on loan to someone else.
I still say he will bag 20 goals by season's end.
