FRENCH centre-back William Edjenguele has left Bury by mutual consent, the club has confirmed.

The 26-year-old defender was thought to be one of the key signings of the summer, after previous manager Kevin Blackwell brought him from League One side Coventry on a free transfer.

But after getting off to a decent start, scoring in his first two games, Edjenguele fell out of favour with the fans following a number of high profile mistakes and was eventually dropped by current boss David Flitcroft.

The 6ft 2in centre half made the last of his 23 appearances for the Shakers in a 2-2 draw at home to Scunthorpe United on Boxing Day, having scored a total of three goals for the club.

He becomes the latest member of the Bury squad to agree to the termination of his contract following Marco Navas's departure last Friday and five more players leaving the previous week.
