BURY manager David Flitcroft has questioned the part Mansfield Town played in the postponement of Tuesday night’s League Two match between the two clubs.

While Flitcroft is happy with the process the home side went through, calling in local referee David Plowright on Tuesday morning to inspect the pitch and announcing the postponement due to a waterlogged pitch by 11am, he still believes it was avoidable.

“To be honest, we weren’t surprised the game was postponed and had already planned a training session,” he said.

“We heard stories that Mansfield have been training on the pitch, in a bid to rough it up and make it difficult for visiting sides. That’s their decision, but if you aren’t going to look after your pitch then there’s a good chance you will lose matches to rain.”
