BURY’S players have been given the chance to pit their wits against David Villa and Damien Duff.
Melbourne City have invited the Shakers to take part in a behind-closed-doors match at sister club Manchester City’s Carrington training ground.
It is one of three friendlies scheduled by the Australian A-league side, who will also be playing Bolton Wanderers and Oldham Athletic.
As well as Melbourne’s two big star players – Duff and Villa – the Shakers could also find themselves up against former England midfielder Frank Lampard, who will play for the A-League team before joining up with MLS club New York City – also part of the growing City stable.
Before facing Melbourne, Bury will kick off their pre-season campaign at Radcliffe Borough on Wednesday night, kick-off 7.30pm.
