Well it was a bit like "After the lord's mayor show today",expectation was high after all of the media hype of us being made favourites for promotion and the wonderful midweek trophy success all be it a minor one.
One might ask what has David Flitcroft been doing during pre-season?.
It's only one game and we shouldn't judge the team on this performance.
However if we are going to lose to a team like Cheltenham at home then us supporters might feel slightly concerned.
The team never really got going and pretty much surrender the initiative to a tough, physical and organised one dimensional team who just survived relegation last term and lost to Kiderminster last weekend and haven't made significant signings during the close season.
The question is can our articulate manager walk the walk he certainly comes across well in the media?.
A word to Mr Chairman try and keep your opinions on Talksport to a minimum, you're adding extra pressure on to the players and management team.
You can't fault the teams effort in the second half the players really gave it their best shot without having that clinical edge in the final third.
We made Carson look world class today,an average journeyman goalkeeper.

I can only say I agree with Eileen, our manager can certainly talk the talk but on this evidence not walk the walk. As an supporter of some 60 years I admit that I was sitting back with my computer I n Norwich waiting for the goals to come,,at 87 I do not have a lot of time to support a winning Bury team, but I was convinced that the time had come.I should have known better. Please Mr Chairman forget the Championship and concentrate on winning the next match and being safe by Christmas. On paper this must be one of the strongest team in the 2nd Div. What is the problem?

As an expat I was also counting on being able to believe the hype. I must admit I feel a bit let down. Are they going to bounce back? As usual we'll all be sat watching final score fingers crossed...

I look at this way. The team is a winning article. First game of the season can be the pressure cooker. All the build up and the trophy, new season and all that. The loss at home is now done for David and I 100% disagree with Eileen above, Chairman has the right to say what he wants and the players should be able to take that pressure. You think it's pressure now, wait until the season is in full swing, December, Easter. Nar, don't buy that one.
Chelty did what they needed to do and we could not break down down. Get use to it lads, most teams will do the same and not surrender the back knowing we have Lowe and Nards.

One of the most stupid things I heard today was "well if we win on Tuesday, I would be ok with that if we lose today". Mindless statement. Tell me that if we come up short 1 point at the end of the season. I could not care less about Tuesday, but care a great deal about next Saturday.

Carson? So what, he made some great saves.....pity he did not perform like that when he was with us. He had his chance, he failed. Let's see if he can do that for 45 more games.

Just to start by being flippant the result was an improvement on the first game last season,we only lost by one not two.Seriously now and yes the Chair has the right to say it as he sees it The players have to man up and do their job and the way they do that is look at themselves and get this dame out of the way in their minds,it is done, they will bounce back from this and DF will bring in more firepower. It is game one somewhere the home run was going to be broken, well now the players need to go on the next run, forget Tuesday, what a ridiculous comment of comparing a sideline cup game with what we are doing in the league.Compare like with like and that means hopefully winning our next league game which will be a platform for winning our next home game. The season is about 46 games, tough we lost the first its how we do in the next 45.Come on Bury.

Easy life it's a fact the stats don't lie when a manager or chairman start speaking to the media on a regular basis results are affected.I don't know the exact reason for it but it happens.
What I want is less talking and more action,I'm not interested in David's philosophy on how the game should be played,he's sounding too much like Keith Hill in my opinion.
Yes of course the Chair has a right to voice his opinion but also he must remember that he represents our club when he goes on air when he's talking to his pal Andy Goldstein on Talksport.
We don't want our club embarrassed with his nonsensical chit-chat.

i can echo a lot of the above comments but for the life of me i can`t help feeling a bit let down.
and am i the only one who dosen`t buy into this Andy Mayer thing ??
how was he man of the match ?? one or two runs several misplaced passes and missing for long spells during of the game !! there is no doubt this lad has talent but i think he is better as a winger but what do i know ? on a posative i thought Tutte who is not one of my faverites had a good game in the middle.lets not get to down everyone remember it is a marathon not a sprint !!

I'm presuming you meant Danny Mayor when you mentioned the man of the match.
I agree with most of the comments here and don't want to single out a particular group of players for criticism.
However I'm slightly concerned by two players in our team who signed 3 year contracts in the summer the aforementioned and Our prodigal son who hasn't scored or contributed in any of the games played in pre- season.
Let's hope the booing he receives in tomorrow's game will help him to boost his lacklustre efforts at his home town club in tomorrow's cup skirmish.
Ps I wonder what odds you would get on DF becoming the next Huddersfield Town manager given our Chairman's connections with the town.
