SELF-confessed 'I'm a Celebrity' fan Ryan Lowe hopes to make a name for himself tomorrow by helping Bury into third round of the FA Cup.

The Shakers legend will be in the squad for the home tie against Luton, with a place in the hat alongside the Premier League giants at stake.

It could prove to be the perfect stage for the experienced striker, who admits he harbours a dream of following Jimmy Bullard – a former team-mate at MK Dons – into the jungle, once he hangs up his boots.

But while he is a firm favourite with the Bury fans, the 36-year-old accepts he will have to boost his celebrity status outside the JD Stadium to attract the attention of the hit show's producers.

"I must admit that, watching Jimmy on the show, it has tickled my fancy," he joked.

"I would jump at the chance to do it and keep telling my kids that one day daddy is going to be in the jungle.

"But I am not holding my breath.

"I am a long way from being as well known as someone like Jimmy, but maybe I could change that by helping Bury get as far as possible in the FA Cup."

This year's competition has been boosted by extra exposure on the BBC and BT Sport, with blanket coverage on TV and online increasing the ratings and helping to restore some of the magic that has been missing in recent seasons.

Lowe knows only too well the effect one shock result can have after being part of the Shrewsbury team that knocked out Everton in the third round in the 2002/03 season.

"Being a big Liverpool fan, that was extra special for me," added Lowe.

"It was a crazy time. The FA Cup, for me as a kid, was the biggest cup competition in the world, so to be involved in something like that so early in my career was a dream come true.

"It was great, as a Red, to be able to pull the legs of all my mates who were Everton fans.

"We got hammered by Chelsea in the next round, but no-one remembers that now.

"It would be great to repay the Bury fans by helping the club achieve something like that."

Lowe knows, however, that the Shakers will be up against it as they bid to end a run of four straight defeats with victory against one of League Two's in-form sides.

They will have to do that without new defensive signings Adam El-Abd and Rob Milsom, who are both unavailable for selection, while key defender Pablo Mills remains an injury doubt after missing the last two matches with a groin strain.

Hallam Hope, Chris Hussey and Chris Sedgwick should all be fit to return, however, after being laid low with illness, while Lowe has assured fans he is now fully fit after three weeks out following a hernia operation.
