BURY have confirmed the signing of Stoke City goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann on an emergency loan.

Manager David Flitcroft said the club had to move quickly after Wolves loanee Aaron McCarey, who only joined Bury on Saturday as a replacement for Rob Lainton, picked up an injury in training on Monday.

Bachmann, aged 21, will now go straight into the squad for Saturday’s League One clash at home to Blackpool and will be free to play against Wigan in the first round of the FA Cup next weekend.

“Due to an unfortunate injury that Aaron McCarey picked up on Monday, we have had to move quickly to get another keeper into the club,” said Flitcroft.

“We’ve also been given permission for Daniel to play in the FA Cup.”

Bachmann jumped the gun on social media, revealing his move on Twitter before either club had officially announced it.

“Happy to have joined @buryfcofficial on loan for a month,” his tweet read. “Looking forward to the first game vs Blackpool on Saturday.”

The young Austrian signed for Stoke in July 2013 but is yet to make his first appearance for the Premier League side.

He made 15 appearances on loan at Wrexham last season and played twice for Scottish Premiership club Ross County in August.

It is not yet clear whether McCarey will return to his parent club. The 23-year-old only joined up with his new team-mates in the dressing room before making his debut in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury.

He replaced first-team stopper Lainton in the starting line-up after he was ruled out for up to eight weeks with a groin tear.
