SOUTHEND United have pulled out the chequebook in an effort to keep hold of Shakers target David Worrall.
The versatile 25-year-old, who has had two previous spells at Bury and can play at full-back or on the wing, has been offered a new deal at Roots Hall.
He has also been strongly linked with a return to Gigg Lane but Phil Brown has not given up hope of keeping him at Southend next season.
“David Worrall has been handed an improved offer of a contract,” said Brown.
“He has interest from clubs in the North West, where’s he from, including one you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to guess.
“But I would like him to stay and that’s why we’ve made him this improved contract offer.
“He’s the type of player who I think can help get us out of this division but it’s up to him what happens from here.”
