BURY'S on-loan goalkeeper Joe Murphy has signed a permanent contract.

The Huddersfield stopper has penned a 12-month deal after putting in a string of impressive performances, keeping seven clean sheets in 11 appearances.

Shakers manager Lee Clark said: “I am delighted to have secured the services of Joe on a permanent basis.

"He has been an impressive performer since I arrived at the club in February and, coupled with his attitude, desire and winning mentality, it was important we secured his services as soon as possible.

“Any successful team has a strong spine so to get this signing done makes me very happy, and I am looking forward to continue to work with Joe."

The 35-year-old Dubliner will leave Huddersfield once his contract with the Terriers runs out at the end of June.

He has made over 500 appearances for nine clubs since beginning his career at Tranmere in 1998.

Murphy played more than 200 games for Scunthorpe and over 150 at Coventry, but had not played a first-team game for 12 months before joining Bury on loan.
