RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's chief fundraiser McKenzie Madison survived the punishing Brecon Beacons Ultra Marathon to finish 38th in a time of 7hrs 32mins 21secs.

The South Wales event started from Talybot-on-Usk and covered 32 miles, including 1,600 feet of climbing.

Madison aims to raise £10,000 for the Wirral-based charity Claire's House by running a handful of marathons this year.

He has already taken part in the Hong Kong Marathon and the Greater Manchester event.

His next one will be the Inca Trail Marathon in Peru next month.

Bev McGrath ran the Brecon Beacons Half Marathon, clocking 3:03:16.

Eight members took part in the classic Lakeland race Fairfield Horshoe, which is nine-miles long and features 3,000 feet of climbing. starting from Rydal Hall in Ambleside.

Ian Warrington navigated his way through mist and wind on the tops to finish in 2:01:57.

There was a great turnout from Radcliffe at the four-mile Haigh Hall Night Race, which is part of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix.

Neal Emmerson was first of 33-competing Radcliffe athletes, finishing 11th of 265 runners in 24:58.

The men's A and B teams were fifth, the women's team fourth and the vets team seventh.

In the Ian Casey Memorial Cowm 5k at Whitworth, Karen Doherty ran a personal best in 28:19.
