BURY’S new signing Keigan Parker says he has a point to prove during his month-long stint at Gigg Lane.
Since leaving Blackpool in 2008, the 27-year-old striker has failed to make an impact at Huddersfield Town, Hartlepool United and Oldham Athletic — scoring just twice for the Latics in 29 appearances this season.
He does have an impressive CV, however, after scoring in the League One play-off final three years ago to help Blackpool into the Championship.
He finished top-scorer with 16 goals during that campaign and hopes to recapture that form with the Shakers.
“I have been frustrated recently because I have only started two matches this calender year,” said Parker. “Hopefully I can start afresh here and hit the ground running by getting a goal that helps the team win against Rotherham.
“I want to prove a few people wrong by scoring goals, because that is what you get judged on as a striker.
“That has been lacking from my game in the last couple of years so hopefully I can rectify that here.
“It is a thin line between scoring goals and not - I have played well for Oldham on a few occassions this season but have been missing a bit of luck.”
Scottish-born Parker goes straight into a squad that has not scored from open play in more than a month, but he is not unduly worried by those statistics.
“Bury are a good club with a decent manager and they have plenty to play for at the right end of the table,” he said.
“They have had a little blip in recent weeks but are still in a strong position. If we can get some wins, starting tomorrow, we will be looking at promotion.
“We have got some hard games coming up so to get a win against one of our rivals up near the top could kickstart us.
“I don’t think there is much between League One and League Two, but it is the fresh start I am looking forward too.
“I didn’t want to end my season on a low by sitting on the bench at Oldham — I would rather come here, work hard and hopefully help the team get promotion.”
Stephen Dawson returns to the Shakers team after a family bereavement but Paul Scott, Damien Allen and Danny Carlton all miss out through injury, while Ryan Lowe is suspended for the first of three games.

I cannot see how Bury are going to find a win from any of their remaining fixtures bringing yet more heartache to their loyal band of supporters. It is time to start planning for next season there is nothing left to hope for in the short term.
I think KP had a good start and may have marked his debut with a goal but for a late offside flag,we are also picking up too many injuries and the players who are coming back don't even get 20 minutes on the pitch what does that say about AB and AK and his decision not to risk him on the beach at D.V.S.? ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD.
I won't be at Gigg lane until i see some radical changes taking place some folk have taken us as far as they can and it's time for a SPRING CLEAN well it is the start of spring tomorrow (GET MY DRIFT?)
