Bury cemented their place in League One next season in style with a thrilling 4-2 victory at Notts County today.

The Shakers only needed one point to achieve their pre-season target of survival, and they got it despite going down to 10 men when the result was still in the balance at 3-2.

Mike Grella grabbed two goals, and David Worrall and Mark Carrington got the others to put a severe dent in the home side's hopes of making the play-offs.

Worrall put Bury ahead with a 25-yard drive three minutes before the break, but an own goal from Giles Coke levelled a minute into the second half.

Grella quickly restored Bury's lead three minutes later, and extended it on 67 minutes as the Shakers took control.

The pendulum swung back the home side's way when Mike Edwards headed in on 79 minutes, and when Bury's Andrai Jones was sent off for a second bookable offence three minutes later, the nerves started jangling among the travelling support.

But Carrington made sure of the points when he succeeded in a one-on-one in the last minute.
