ANDY Bishop has returned to Gigg Lane after Bury manager Kevin Blackwell cut short his loan deal at Wrexham.

Bishop was a month into a three-month stay at the Racecourse Ground after demanding the move under previous boss Peter Shirtliff.

The caretaker manager said the 29-year-old striker had suffered a loss of confidence after failing to find the net for Bury since Boxing Day last year.

He has since scored twice for Wrexham and Blackwell believes the former sharpshooter could yet enjoy an Indian summer in his career.

“He’s back here because he’s part of the club,” said the Bury boss.

“He has got a chance now to impress me and do a job that I think we all know he’s capable of.

"But he’s got to be decided in his own mind that that’s what he wants to do.

“He’s only 29 and I said to Bish ‘your best years are arguably ahead, but you’ve got to make them your best years’.

“If we get a fired-up Bish back then he’s a big asset to the football club.”
