WHEN it comes to support, a Bolton wrestler has a hoard of people cheering him on from his own club.

Not only were his fellow Sharples team-mates at the club to shout for George Ramm but his family also wanted to show they are getting behind the ex-Turton School pupil.

Mum Jane Ramm said: “George has given a lot of time up to get to the standard he is at.

“As his mum I am most proud of him representing Team England at such a young age and I am sure he will give it his all.”

George’s grandad Fred Ramm said: “George has a great wrestling style when he wrestles. He is still only 17 years old and we are sure the Commonwealth Games are going to be a great experience for him.”

Meanwhile, Kelsey Barnes, female junior wrestler, said: “I am very pleased a Sharples Wrestling Club member has been selected also a fellow wrestler from Harwood. “I am travelling up to Glasgow with my mum and other members of the club to watch George in action.”

Also heaping praise on Ramm is junior wrestler Ryan Kay.

He said:“I am really pleased my team-mate has been selected to compete in the Commonwealth Games.

“It must be like a dream come true.

“George has worked hard, he deserves his place.” One person who has seen Ramm develop is his coach Eddy Kavanagh and he also is Team England Wrestling team deputy team leader.

He said:“George has worked extremely hard to be selected to wrestle in the Commonwealth games for Team England.

“He is probably the most promising young prospect in wrestling in the UK at this present time. George is a confident young man with a positive mindset and will not be phased by the big occasion.

“I see the Games as the first of many major wrestling events George will compete in.”
