Bolton Under 15s 184
Fylde U15s 182
(Bolton won by four wickets)

IT should go down as the comeback of all comebacks as Bolton Under-15s side booked their place in the final of the Ainsworth Trophy with a four-wicket win.

After a maiden over by Zaid Patel, Fylde started to settle in and were going strong and by the end of the first drinks break had reached 71 without loss.

The opening pairing of Johnson and Higson looked to be putting on a good partnership but some choice words by Bolton coach Chris Highton saw a turnaround in their fortunes.

Ben Harrison was introduced to the fray and saw an early chance go begging as he went for four on the first ball.

But on the third ball, he used his pace and power to get the wicket of Johnson with the score on 75.

Marcus Haydock had Fylde in a spin by restricting the batsmen and then picking up the wicket of Higson.

Harrison was at it again trapping Saunders lbw with the score on 128.

Highton’s words of advice to bowl it straight paid off and the hosts were ruthless with Lewis Haydock running out Yeadon.

Jordan Higham was rewarded for his toils in 10 overs with the wicket of after a fine catch by Adam Knowles to make it 129-5.

A little resistance in the middle of the order put the brakes on Bolton’s celebrations but Knowles swung the pendulum back in Bolton’s favour with a wicket clean-bowling Cowburn.

It looked as if Fylde would try to bat out their overs and notch up as many runs as possible.

But two wickets by Lewis Haydock and Zaid Patel left them 169-9 and there was a late rally before Patel took the final victim with the score on 182.

In reply, Bolton had only six runs on the board when opener Matthew Morris was clean bowled by Fisher.

Marcus Haydock was joined by Danny Southworth (22) at the crease and they started to repair the damage to get up to the verge of the half century mark before Southworth was out to Yeadon.

Haydock was star man with the bat as he stayed around to hit 55 before being clean bowled by Fisher.

Joseph Baldwin (12), Matthew Hargreaves (15) and Ben Harrison (11) in the middle of the order kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Lewis Haydock was the next top scorer with 26 at the death along with Adam Knowles (17 not out) as Bolton won with seven overs to spare.

Bolton will take on Wigan in the final at the County Ground in Liverpool in September.
