BOLTON Robots of Doom booked their place in the national finals after beating Newton Ayrcliffe 12-9.

Good play by Ryan Patterson, Tony Berry, Thomas Ball, James Newall ensured the Robots edged 1-0 up at the end of the second innings.

It remained scoreless in the thirdbut in the fthe scores were level at 1-1 in the fifth inning.

But the Robots stretched their lead in the sixth to 3-1.

The pendulum swung back in Newton Ayrcliffe’s favour to draw level at 3-3.

The Robots made a change at the start of the seventh with Johnny Winter coming in for James Newall and it could not prevent Ayrcliffe going ahead for the first time in the game at 9-3.

With the game out of Bolton’s reach, they hit back wuth six runs added to the tally to level the scores in this see-saw game at 9-9.

Patterson was in impressive form despite an injury to prevent Ayrcliffe scoring.

Great work by Dale Hargan, Daniel Entwistle, Kieran O’Leary turned the game around to win 12-9.
