SCOTT Quigg will not have an easy fifth defence of his WBA super bantamweight crown at the end of this month.

That's the view of Japanese opponent Hidenori Otake who is vowing to knock the Bury star out and take the belt back to the Land of the Rising Sun on November 22.

Quigg will be back in the ring at Liverpool's Echo Arena looking to end another successful year on a high note.

His last three successful defences have been by way of technical knockout inside just three rounds – the latest against Belgian Stephane Jamoye at Manchester's Phones 4u Arena in September.

But Otake is vowing to be more of a challenge for the 26-year-old and believes he can force his own knockout on Merseyside and provide a big upset against the unbeaten Lancastrian.

Otake said: “I'm not content with just being the challenger, and I'm not going to England just for the memories – I'm ready to give everything to bring home the belt.

“Quigg looks like he is strong, and hits hard. He's also good at controlling the distance – he has many good qualities but in boxing, you never know what will happen until you get in the ring.

“Since we'll be in enemy territory, it will be tough to win on points.

"So I'm going for the knockout.”

The 33-year-old right-hander has lost just one of his 26 fights to date and has defended his national super bantamweight title four times.

But this will be his first bout outside of his native Japan and will provide a much-sterner test of his credentials.

Quigg’s clash with Otake is part of a huge night of action on Merseyside as Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew meet in a hotly-anticipated rematch. All the action is live on Sky Sports Box Office on the night.
