TOM Carson maintained his dominance of the Red Rose Cross Country league with yet another victory at Chorley's Astley Park.

The champion of the four-event annual event for the last three years, Carson made it two wins out of two races this season in the three-lap senior men's 10k race on a deceptively tough undulating course with three stream crossings per lap.

Suzanne Budgett took the female over-50 (F50) honours in the senior women's race and John Parker made it two wins from two in the V70 category.

The club's young athletes yet again dominated. The under-11s boys had four runners in the first eight, for a team score of just 13 points, an impressive 29 ahead of their nearest rivals, whilst the u11s girls and u13s boys were also triumphant with Ella Pendlebury taking the individual honours in the girls' race.
