TOM Lancashire continued his return to form when he was the first British finisher in the men’s short race at the Great Edinburgh Cross-Country Championships last weekend.

The Bolton star covered the 4km around Arthur’s Seat in 12mins 35secs, finishing an impressive fifth overall.

The fourth Manchester Area Cross Country League fixture took place in wintry conditions at Heaton Park, with u13s runner Alice Tonge completing the 2,830m course in 12:16 for 10th place.

Ellie-Jo Ramsden clocked 12:51 and Molly Philbin 12:55.

U11s Lily Philbin and Grace Tonge also competed over the same distance as the u13s – the furthest they had ever run – with Lily finishing in 14:35 and Grace in 15:59.

In the U15s race, Leah Rushworth finished 30th in 16:33, while Katie Oakley came 12th in the u17s race in 25:00.

Matt Lang clocked 44:45 and Nick Howarth 46:44 in the senior men’s race.
