CMB performed another Lancashire Amateur Shield giant-killing to book their place in the final after beating Manchester League side AFC Monton 3-1.

Moray Boyd took over the reins for the tie as boss Phil Roberts was ill and he was delighted by the performances.

He said: "It was not the prettiest of games with the wind and conditions making it hard for both sides.

"Our first two goals were similar with long balls behind the centre-half and left back and then added another one in the second half.

"Everyone in the starting 11 and then the subs also gave 100 per cent."

The Chew Moor outfit took the lead when a 60-yard pass was taken on the chest by Matt Carr and he took a few steps to blast the ball past the keeper.

In a carbon copy, Carr took his tally to 13 for the season when he headed the ball down and fired home.

Michael McGinley put the icing on the cake with a goal in the 75th minute before Monton scored a late penalty.

The club will take on Coppull United at the Lancashire FA headquarters on King Street in Leyland on March 13 at 7pm

There will be familiar faces on both sides as Coppull are managed by ex-Tempest United boss Dave Haughton and his assistant Gary Young was the number two to Phil Roberts at his spell at Eagley a few years ago.

Haughton said: "We are not going to take anything for granted despite them being in Division Two.

"We know quite a few of their players including Andy Warburton who played for me previously.

"There will be no complacency from us."

Meanwhile Roberts will renew acquaintances with Mitchell Lees who played under him at Eagley.
