TOMMY Harrison was first to cross the line out of another plus-300 attendance at this week's parkrun.

He was followed by Bolton United Harriers and AC runner Shaun O'Dwyer in second and Tom Lucas or Horwich RMI Harrier in third.

It was a day of personal best times with a huge 88 runners completing the course faster than they have ever done before – not a bad achievement at all considering the strong wind blowing in the faces of runners down the long straight section down the out section of the out and back near the end.

The ladies were led home by Paula Pilling of Burnden Road Runners, followed by Helen Winstanley in second and Sarah Watton third.

Marjorie Leigh recorded the day's highest age grading with 80.85 per cent, with Eileen Royle's 77.15 per cent and Katy Thompson 76.73 per cent.

Among the milestones this week, junior runner Morgan Skeels-Caldwell completed his 10th run and Deb Hennessey and Linda Coffey completed run number 50 while the 100 club got a new member in the form of James Orchard who made it a century of parkruns.

Twenty different athletics clubs were represented and there were 26 volunteers including Malcolm Pittock who donned a much sportier new protective helmet to replace the classic white one which had given him years of great service.

Without the volunteers Bolton parkrun could not happen, so it is with much appreciation on our part that the following gave up their time to do the various important jobs which enable our Saturday morning sporting event to take place: Alison Keen, Ann Oliver, Brian and Megan Horrocks, Cecilia Woods, Christine Pendlebury, Craig Philpot, David Allen, Dylan Taylor, Elaine and Ella Turner, Hannah McArthur, Sarah and Harry (and Alys) Jenkinson, Josh Nuttall, Lucille Corrigan, Malcolm Pittock, Marisa Frot, Matt Barker, Megan Hennessey, Mick Entwistle, Phil Holden, Robert Mwelwa, Shirley Tull and Tristan Kent.

If you can volunteer this Saturday, please email the parkrun event directors at BoltonOffice@parkrun.com

Runner of the week: James Orchard completed a century of parkruns to join the 100 club this week.
