TOM Carson had yet another emphatic victory at the Radcliffe 10k Trail Race, winning in 33:24, well over a minute clear of his closest challenger.

David Jackson took the V45 honours in 10th place overall amongst the 312 finishers in wet and blustery conditions.

Paul Muller took his customary V55 prize, this time at the Fleetwood 10k on Sunday. His time of 39:54 also beat all the other vets in younger age groups.

At the previous weekend's Pendle Junior Fell races, the second race in the English Junior Championship, seven Horwich juniors made the short trip to the village of Barley.

In the under-8s race Theo Middleton worked through the field to finish seventh place.

In the u10s race, reigning English champion Cian Healy started as he finished last year, leading from gun to tape to win on a tough course.

The girls' race in the same age group saw in-form Freya Whittle run a well-judged race to finish third and she is now leading the girls u10s championship. Tom Massey ran brilliantly to finish third in the u12s race, just 20 seconds behind the winner, with Toby Middleton11th and Lucas Milliken 18th to finish third team.

Lydia Johnson was club's only girl in the category and paced herself well to finish 24th.

This weekend sees the next championship race at West Nab, Meltham near Huddersfield.
