Karl Darcy set a new personal best
KARL Darcy romped home to a new personal best 16 mins 2secs to win the Welcome Tavern 5k in Preston.
He was just five seconds ahead of a pack of chasing Preston Harriers.
Shaun O’Dwyer followed up in 16:47 (eighth overall), before Pete Kearney (19:03) and daughter Olivia (23:18) crossed the line in the field of 85.
Entries are now being taken for the Harrier’s third Last Drop Loop on Saturday, June 20. It is a demanding fell race of 5.7 miles crossing woodland and the high moorland of the Pennines overlooking Bolton from Bromley Cross, though it is suitable for beginners.
