BOLTON Sailing Club hosted the fourth event in the 2015 TT Series sponsored by Noble marine on April 25.

The Supernova open meeting was day one of the Northern open events with day two taking place at Scammonden reservoir on the Sunday.

Almost 30 boats in total signed up for the event.

In race one, after a clean start there was a charge to the first mark and with a sudden gust and wind shift two of the leading group capsized Andy Flitcroft (Bolton) and Chris Hawley (Bartley), allowing Alex Collins (Bolton) to get ahead of the pack followed closely by Peter Mackin (Bolton), Tony Critchley (Bolton) and Tim Hand (Sutton in Ashfield).

By the end of lap one, Collins had established a good lead and there was a great battle for the second to fifth places with Steve Hawley (Bartley) making an appearance with the front runners.

Collins took the win followed by Andy and Peter Mackin (Bolton), with Hawley taking first place in the silver fleet.

In the second race, Collins, Flitcroft and Mackin made up the top three.

It was all to play for in the third race but the finish order was Alex Collins, Andy Flitcroft, Peter Mackin, followed by Tony Critchley and Mike Critchley.

A spokesman for Bolton Sailing Club said: "It is a credit to the Supernova fleet’s discipline that the race officer was not called upon to use the recall or black flags with three clean starts, considering the challenging conditions experienced by the fleet."
