BOLTON Metro Swim Squad were well represented at the ASA West Regional Age Group Championships which has been held over the last two weekends and with a number of events yet to be held over this forthcoming weekend.

It was a successful event for Metro and under tough competition the squad was successful in having representation in a number of event finals with Eve Corrigan (11/12yrs 50m free), James Oxborrow (17+yrs 50m free) and Mariette Braithwaite (15yrs 200m breaststroke) qualifying.

In addition, Metro had great medal success in the younger age groups with Gabriel Glynn following on from recent success elsewhere with two gold medals in the 11/12 years age category in the 50m and 100m freestyle events.

Isaac Brennand also won silver in the same age category in the 50m breaststroke.

Meanwhile, Anna Doughty had another successful weekend picking up two gold medals in the 16yrs 50m and 100m freestyle.

And only just missed out on a medal in the 50m butterfly finishing fourth in the final.

Arran Bostock claimed Silver in 16yrs 200m backstroke and again narrowly missed out on a medal finishing fourth in the 400m free.

Emma Swanwick Metro’s Head Coach was delighted with the performance of squad.

She said: "The standard of the North West’s swimmers is of the highest standard and to qualify for the championships is in itself an achievement.

"All of the swimmers and in particular the finalists and medallists must be extremely proud of their performance and we now look forward to this weekend’s competition and also to see if the times recorded by our swimmers will see them qualify for the British and English National finals.”

Metro are hoping to run a Swim Camp later in the year and are looking for a company who may wish to work with them to subsidise the event and be associated with this highly motivated and progressive squad.
