WESTHOUGHTON Lions Under-10s continued their fine form this season with an impressive 38-4 victory against Folly Lane.

The early signs were good with Jack Lee finishing in the corner in style, Dan White added the extras.

Despite Folly Lane dominating field position, it was Lions' strong defence which lead to the second score by man-of-the-match Ben Grindley-Roberts.

Grindley-Roberts used all his vision to double his tally scoring a try from an interception as it ended 16-0 at the break.

A rejuvenated Folly Lane side got on the scoresheet with a try before Jacob Lovett broke through the line and leaving the Folly Lane defenders in his wake as he score a great solo try.

The Lions would also score the next try with some good work by Ali Malik and Dan White which set up Grindley-Roberts for his hat trick try.

They extended their lead from a flowing move, this time finding Kieran Cooke to race away to score for the Lions.

Cooke would also score the next try of the game as he pounced on a loose ball and raced clear to score.

Folly Lane would launch one last attack but the Lions would contain it bringing to a close a great game of rugby league.

Elsewhere, lady luck once again deserted the u16s as they succumbed to a more fortunate Leigh East losing 16-8.

The hosts took centre stage in the early part of the first half and appeared to be camped out on the Lions line. This early pressure bore fruit with a try in the corner that went unconverted.

The Lions hit back and seemed to be gaining the upper hand, crossing the line twice only to find both tries chalked off controversially.

Taking advantage of their good fortune, Leigh East managed to get themselves into an 8-0 lead before Westhoughton squared things up with two excellent tries.

Will Hall who latched onto a fine kick to the corner from Dec Ali and then Josh Peet to touchdown in the same spot for the second try.

At 8-8 the outcome was still up in the air but two early second half tries from the home side proved decisive.

The latter stages showed that their was little between the two teams with neither side able to break the stalemate.
