MALACHI Mitchell-Thomas lies sixth in the Superstock 600 after another impressive performance.

The Horwich teenager finished 10th in Norfolk in the latest round of the season's series of races.

It gave him six points to raise his tally for the season to 36 and remain in the thick of the leading riders in the British Superbike-affiliated event.

He got off to a good start in round five at Snetterton 300 Race Circuit, settling in seventh by the end of the first lap and gaining another place by the third lap.

But as he was making inroads into catching the leading pack, he high-sided his bike and ran onto the grass.

This saw him drop to 16th as he was forced to wait for his tyres' grip to return.

He stormed back to make up six places and keep himself in the hunt for honours.

The 19-year-old said: "I had a good weekend and we improved throughout.

"In the race I had a good start and was putting good times in until I had a big moment and ran on the grass twice.

"This left me with my work cut out but we came away with some points and held on to sixth position in the championship."

Earlier in the weekend he was 12th in free practice, 10th in first qualifying and 10th again in second qualifying which gave him a start of 10th position on row four of the grid for the main race.

The next round takes place at Knockhill Race Circuit in Fife on July 5.
