WILL Hart beat James Moores 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 to reach the men's singles final where he will play Steve Darlington.

Darlington missed out on another appearance in a final when he and partner Mark Hartley lost to Danny Philbin and Dean Moore in the men's doubles.

The match had great tennis, disputed line calls and went to the wire with a third set tie break. Philbin and Moores got an early advantage taking both points on Darlington's serve. This was enough to allow them to close the match out winning the tie break 7-2.

Last night saw comparatively few outstanding matches completed.

An early finish to a handicap mixed semi-final saw Hawkshaw's Keith Robinson and Fiona Wheeler beat David Lloyd's Mick Knowles and Theresa McCarren 6-3, 6-1.

It seems that the Hawkshaw pair may have received a generous handicap.

Men's finalist Hart cruised into his second final when he beat Sam Hassall 6-3, 6-2 in the under-18s boys' semi-final.

The handicap men's singles will be between Ben Coop and Scott Williams, the latter winning a close contest with Jordan Hall 6-4, 6-5.

This afternoon will see this year's finals at the Leverhulme Pavilion on Chorley New Road.

It is great entertainment and entry is free.

The under-18s boys' singles final will start at 12pm to allow Hart a break before his men's singles final.

The under-18s girls final between Emily Digby and Amy Hadjinicolaou will start at 1pm.

The men's and ladies' singles finals will follow at around 2pm.

The level doubles finals will follow on the main three courts with handicap events taking place throughout the afternoon on the side courts.
