REGENT Park, who have been estranged at the bottom of League B all season, made a remarkable comeback last week when they pulled off a substantial 6½–1½ win over visitors Hart Common.

This was their first win of the season during which the Park have lost a number of members, including some team players, and have struggled at times to form a full squad.

Even a move of their match night to a Thursday, which eased the situation, has not brought success until now.

Unfortunately, their last match of the season will have its difficulties away at Turton but the club appears buoyant and will be hoping for better times next season.

Hart Common’s defeat has left them in third place, just ‘games difference’ above Turton with two matches to complete against Deane and Turton, both of which are away.

Turton entertain both Regent and Hart Common in their final two matches while Breightmet have only one match left away at Deane.

Meanwhile Deane took a roasting against league B leaders Old Links last week and took total charge with a resounding 7½-½ home win.

This leaves Deane next to bottom such is the tight group in mid-table.

Old Links went on to visit second place Breightmet who took full advantage of home soil when they just edged the spoils with a 4 ½ - 3 ½ victory.

It was a close run thing but Old Links are still sitting high at the top of League B while Breightmet now seemed destined to hold on to second place.

Harwood spoiled Turton’s recent come back when the home side produced a 5–3 win and remain in fifth place while Turton move up to fourth.

In League A, Dunscar are piling on the pressure for a second place following a

5 ½ - 2 ½ home win against Westhoughton and are just games difference above Horwich who have had to drop to third spot by the tightest of margins. Furthermore, Horwich succumbed at Chorley when the Hall ‘o ‘th Hill side ran out 6–2 winners at home leaving the ‘Locos’ with just one match left against Hindley Hall.

At the top of league A, Great Lever finished their season on a high with a 5 ½ - 2 ½ win against Hindley Hall and now sit back to wait for the league semi-finals.
