A RIVINGTON and Blackrod School pupil is getting her kicks out of sport.

Charlotte Antoni is going from strength-to-strength in Muay Thai kick-boxing and boasts an impressive record of only two losses from 28 fights.

The 14-year-old boasts an impressive trophy cabinet including a host of international and European belts.

Dad Ed Antoni said: "Charlotte is just going from strength-to-strength and we are over the moon with the success.

"She has really taken to the sport in such a short time and we are so proud of her achievements.

"The funny thing is that we are running out of space on her wall for all the belts she has won.

"All of her trophies are just put in a box and are under her bed."

Her latest success was on Kiatphontip Muay Thai Championships Show at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds on July 25.

She took on Amy Lowe who fights out of Kiatphontip Gym Leeds.

The member of the Peel Club in Little Hulton won on a majority decision.

Her dad said: "It was a great fight from both fighters.

"They both had some amazing comments from professional fighters who were fighting at the same show.

"They said it was the best junior fight they had seen."

Even though she is taking some time off from fighting in the build-up to the European Open Championships in Manchester, she is still working as hard as ever in the gym.

Ed said: "You never get any moaning out of her.

"She is ready to go training six times a week and also goes out on a five mile run on Sundays.

"She is always at the gym and the only time she complains is after a tough session.

"She is still on a learning curve and was in the 48kg category and beating all of her opponents so she has moved up to 50kg.

"It is great because she is up against bigger opponents and it is slightly harder.

"She fought a girl at the weekend who was 56kg in a club event and did really well."

Antoni has set her sights high and with her impressive record few would argue with her achieving more success.

After the European Open she has been lined up to take on the Celtics at Blackpool.

Ed added: "She has not fought at the Europeans before so she is really excited about it.

"But she is like that for most competitions, she just wants to win more.

"She would like to turn professional some day but it is quite hard for her at the minute to find opponents who she has not already beaten.

"The Peel Club are holding an event and they are hoping to bring over a European fighter so she can try to win another belt.

"She qualified for the Thailand World Championships earlier this year but she won't be able to compete until next year where she would be representing the Great Britain team.

"Some people are also talking about the sport being at the Olympics and Charlotte would love to do that."
