TYLDESLEY struggled to keep pace with an enthusiastic Lancaster side and suffered a 17-13 defeat at the Pelican Centre.

Addison Brown opened the scoring for Tyldesley but that proved to be the only time Tyldesley led Lancaster.

Accurate shooting by Lancaster meant Lancaster finished the quarter leading by 7-4, as Brown scored another goal and further efforts by Jonathon Stafford and Neil Williams.

In the second quarter, Lancaster maintained the pace of the game and continued to convert their scoring opportunities.

By the interval the score was 12-7 in favour of Lancaster after a brace of goals by Adam Toone and another by Brown.

The third quarter was again all Lancaster with some good pit defending to combat the threat posed by the lively Brown.

Lancaster added to their tally to out-score Tyldesley 2-1 in the next quarter. Peter Harrison was on target for the Pelican side.

Tyldesley entered the last quarter trailing 14-8 but they rallied and brought the score back to within three goals.

However, their efforts were in vain as they could never get close enough to their opponents to worry them.

Tyldesley won the final quarter by 5-3 but they came up short.

Jonathan Stafford bagged two goals while Brown scored two more and Toone also got his name on the score-sheet in the final quarter again.

It was a great game of water polo played in good spirits and appreciated by the large crowd at the Pelican Centre.
