BOLTON Under-17s Colts produced a resounding 77-0 victory against New Brighton.

Within the first 10 minutes it was obvious that New Brighton, despite trying hard, were going to be no match for Bolton.

In that time both Rohan Patel and Harvey Banks had gone over, in separate corners, for a try each and after only nine minutes the scoreboard read 10-0 to the visitors.

After their early cushion on 15 minutes, Cherry and White officials made three substitutions by introducing u16s players James Evans, Morgan Skeels-Caldwell and Tom Crook who had come along at the last minute.

The trio all played tremendously well and you couldn’t tell they were a year younger.

Play continued within the New Brighton half and within another four minutes, Will Hinchliffe had touched down and got his name on the scoresheet.

The try was converted by George Lilleywhite as the lead stood at 17-0 after only 19 mins.

Bolton's dominance continued in the same vein until half time with two further tries.

Jonny Wallis tapped and ran the ball across the line after a penalty at the 5m line, and Hinchcliffe also scored with the latter being converted by Rohan Patel.

It was more of the same after the break as the New Brighton players were simply swept aside with long runs back into New Brighton territory from kick off, by Sam Smith, Will Hinchcliffe, Adam Hackin and Seth Fairclough.

All were just held at the line by some strong defence from New Brighton.

Tom Evans and Callum Naylor also went over the New Brighton line but were successfully held up by the New Brighton defence and denied a try.

Further tries were run in by Matthew Choudhury, Hinchcliffe (two more), Ross Denvir, Ciaran Bach, Lilleywhite and another two storming runs by Rohan Patel.

In the absence of first-choice kicker David Price, Patel stepped into the breach to convert another four of the tries.

It was a superb effort by all players from Bolton for the win and New Brighton for never giving up.
