LANCASHIRE Road Club host their annual Hill Climb on 11th October 2015 on the Rake at Ramsbottom.

The Rake hill climb is a short and steep ‘classic’ British hill climb and starts at the Library in the town centre and climbs up towards Lumb Carr Road near to the Shoulder of Mutton Public House.

It is only 875 metres long but, though short, it makes up for it in steepness – reaching a maximum gradient of 22 per cent.

The climb has featured in the Tour of Britain and has been the location for a number of national hill climb championships.

A wide variety of riders have attempted to ride the rake including Chris Boardman, Malcolm Elliott, Graeme Obree, Chris Newton and Michael Hutchinson.

The course record is 2 mins 14 seconds.

It is expected that about 70 riders will enter the race which starts at 12 noon and the riders will have the benefit of the roads being closed to traffic for the duration of the event.

Lancashire Road Club has recently changed their club kit supplier to Champion Systems. Winners of categories in the race will be awarded a special polka dot jersey.
