HORWICH Locos got back to winning ways in Division One of the Manchester Area Basketball League defeating Cheshire MMU 50-46.

After a close game against the same opposition last week they lost by 16 points in the away game, but the Loco's came back with blast to win this cup match at home.

During this game the Locos were head to head up until the third quarter and the score at half time was 21-21.

With great support throughout the game from local fans on the bench Horwich were driven strongly to take this win home.

During the third quarter, the Locos were trailing by four points to MMU, but they managed to put their strongest five players on the court and it paid off as MMU struggled to contain the hosts.

The Locos had all the opportunities and started to make the well deserved baskets winning the game 50-46.

A spokesman for the team said :"Great team assistance and plays, Johnny Escobar playing strong driving in the last couple of minutes.

"As a team we utilized the same plays we practice at training.

"They are basic principles of basketball which has shown that they are effective.

"Our coach Alan Banister is a great asset to the whole team, we all feel he puts us in the right mind set for these games."

Top scorer was Charlie Cuthbert with 21 points and Mustafa Jaafir with 10.
