THORNLEIGH Basketball team were well beaten 101-35 by runaway Manchester Amateur Basketball League Division Two league leaders Stockport Falcons.

The Falcons have won every game so far this season by convincing margins and look certain for promotion.

They are a young exciting team who play a superb blend of fast break, attacking offence and a full court man to man pressing defence.

Several of their very talented young players also play in the National Under 19`s League and constant exposure to this very high standard of basketball is clearly evident in all their play.

Thornleigh's top-scorer Gary Strong was missing for the clash and the side found scoring against this well organised team very difficult.

By the end of the first quarter the home team trailed 28-7.

By half time, the gap had grown to 42-14.

In the second half Stockport scored with virtually every offence and the points gap grew very quickly with long passages of play when the home team found scoring difficult.

For Thornleigh, Gareth Prosser and Mike Sharples scored most of the home sides points from inside the key with 18 points and 12 points respectively.
