IT was another weekend of firsts for Horwich with Mike Cayton securing the top podium spot at the Bolton 10k at the same time as Chris Farrell was winning the Rivington 10-mile trail race.

At both there was close pursuit from club colleagues with son and father Luke and Paul Massey making it fifth and sixth at Bolton, Luke being first junior home in a superb time of 36mins 5secs with his dad only eight seconds behind for first M45 prize.

Rudolf Maciejkowicz took yet another M60 first prize. At Rivington, it was Nick Leigh in second place, gaining first M40, and Dave Jackson in fifth for first M45.

Tony Hesketh only just missed out on first M65 but Gillian Smith got first F65 for the second time in as many weeks.

Elsewhere in the London and Blackpool Marathons, Lawrence Pinnell, Geoff Leech and Colin Wood put in solid times.

On the fells Simon Pymm was 14th of 260 runners at the Kinder Downfall race.

At the Blackpool 10k Paul Muller maintained a superb series of results with third place after being first home the previous day at the Lytham Hall parkrun.
