DAISY Hill pushed 2013 champions Farnworth to the final over in the first round of the Hamer Cup on Sunday.

Chris Wilson did the most damage with the ball taking 3-35.

Farnworth were given only 48 overs to reply following a slow bowling rate, but they were led by the highly-impressive Adil Nisar (127no) who batted all the way through while knocking his fourth century in five games.

The Lavender Road outfit raced out of the traps and their first wicket fell with 106 runs on the board.

Raees (5-91) cranked up the pressure with the ball and with six overs remaining the game was on a knife edge with the score at 243-5.

But Ross Sutton chipped in with 45 for Farnworth as they wrapped up the win in the final over.

Elsewhere, Bradshaw returned to winning ways by dumping out Darcy Lever.

Wicketkeeper Chris Evans starred with the bat for the Rigby's outfit scoring 71no. Atiq Uz-Zaman (56), Nick Lester (48) and Rob Hardman (28) also scored high as Bradshaw posted 277-7.

Aaron Clarke bowled 3-85 during the first innings before striking 43 runs with the bat in reply.

But Standish were dismissed for 151 thanks to the bowling attack of Thushendra de Zoysa, Matthew Fanning, Matthew Readey and 15-year-old Will Trevor who all took two wickets apiece.

Jaydyn Simmons knocked 118 and Nick Jeffs scored 68 as Lostock posted 251-6 against Atherton.

Rob Holgate bowled 5-22 and David Flanagan took 3-55 as Atherton's reply was limited to 148.

Walkden bounced back from a shocking 10-wicket defeat to Horwich on Saturday by beating Heaton in the 40-over Heineken competition.

Sam Hardman hit 32 for the Lower Pools side but tidy bowling from Tahir Maqsood (3-13) and Jonathan Fowler (3-14) had the hosts bowled out for 133.

Fowler fired 28 when he turned his hand to the bat, which along with professional Aiden Markram's 33 saw off the target with two wickets remaining.
