HELEN Braddock clubbed her way to an incredible ninth Bolton Ladies Championship victory at Dunscar Golf Club.

After the first day's 36-hole scratch qualifying round both semi-final matches pitted Turton against Bolton Old Links, with Laura Howarth of Turton taking on Sally Ann Attwood of Old Links and Turton member Helen Mosscrop playing Old Links' Braddock.

Both semis were only decided on the final hole but Howarth, in her second year in the championship, and eight-time winner Braddock booked their places in the final.

Braddock took an early lead and her experience served her well as she emerged a 6&5 winner on the 13th hole to secure her ninth title.

There was more success for Old Links as Sue Hazlitt, Michelle Waring and Jane Sayner won the Team of Three event at the expense of Westhoughton trio Sue Maybury, Eleanor Green and Christine Reece.

The Thursday Greensome was won by Deane member Pravita Parmar and Bolton's Karen Lay.

In the seniors' final Harwood's Rita Towler claimed her fourth championship by beating Bolton's Fenella McMullan in the final.

The thanks of the 120-strong field thanked Dunscar for their hosting and they will look forward to next year's event at Turton.
