BOLTON Olympic Wrestling Club topped the medal table at the 2016 English Wrestling Championships.

The 17 athletes they took to Alfreton in Derbyshire brought home an unrivalled 17 medals including six gold, seven silver and four bronze.

The whole squad had podium finishes in what was the best team performance on the day.

The tournament had more than 200 entrants across all age groups, from the youngest competitors aged eight years to the oldest aged 69 years.

There were six competitions running concurrently, with Greco-Roman wrestling, and freestyle male and female juniors, seniors, and veterans categories represented.

Following the impressive showing, three of the club's Team GB representatives were selected for international duty.

Stefan Gradwell, aged 16, and 18-year-old Mark Johnson were chosen to represent their country at the upcoming ISF world schoolboy championships in Turkey, with Declan Fisher, aged 17, selected for the European Cadet championships in Sweden.
