BURNDEN’S Phil Eccleston was the first M35 runner and eighth overall in the Colshaw Hall 10k with a time of 35mins 40secs.

He headed a turnout of five club members at the second running of the event around the scenic hall in Over Peover, near Knutsford.

Joanne Darby was the next to finish, crossing the finishing line in 1:02:35, just over two minutes ahead of Rita Ledwards, who completed the course in 1:04:49, which gave her 13th place in the F55 category.

Melissa Eccleston recorded a 10k personal best with her time of 1:06:09 and Gillian McGowan knocked nearly three minutes off her time for the race 12 months ago, recording 1:09:46 this year.

Jeff and Christine Pendlebury were in Devon to compete in the Torbay Half Marathon. Jeff completed the course in 2:19:45 with Christine putting in a strong showing to end well under two-and-a-half hours in 2:26:26.

Christophe Menand was first home in the Adlington Scouts White Bear Way 10-mile event, completing the tough course through the valleys and woodland of Adlington, Blackrod and Rivington in 1:33:00.

Isaline and Martyn Pollitt completed the 21-mile route which extended over the moors in a time of 3:44:00 to earn fifth place.

Jackie Oakes and Lorraine Halwood also took on the long course, crossing the finish line in 6:08:00.
