BOLTON motorcyle racer Joe Lawrence returned from a broken wrist to earn an encouraging top-eight finish at Oulton Park.
With the wrist still fractured following an accident in a previous round of the Pre-National 600 Championships, the JDL Racing Kawasaki team racer had the added complication of having to get comfortable on his bike.
It made it difficult holding on to the bike for more than five laps but he still managed to qualify in 10th position.
The 27-year-old Westhoughton man finished eighth in race one but pulled out of the second race due to wet conditions which could have posed a risk to his injury had he come off his bike.
He said: "Overall it was not a bad weekend. A top-eight finish with me not being at my fittest and I got some good time on the bike.
"We still have a lot to improve on the bike, this is only my second time on the Kawasaki and there are a lot of changes still to make.
"We are looking forward to Rockingham [in round six] and we will be fighting to be fit for that round at the end of July."
