ASTLEY and Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club enjoyed a terrific day of success at the Northern Individual Championships at Bury on Sunday.

A&T had riders competing in all seven categories and finished with two champions and riders placed on the rostrum in six of the seven events.

John White won all his five races in the under-10s match, to take the Northern u10s title, with a 20-point maximum score.

Team-mate Reece Pollitt made it a double success for A&T later in the afternoon, in winning the Northern u19s title.

In the other categories, Emily Burgess overcame a heavy fall to take third place in the u13s event, before taking second place in the women's championship.

Paul Graham put in a sterling effort to finish runner-up in the veterans competition.

Reece Pollitt capped an excellent day's racing for A&T, with an excellent third place in the senior final.

There were plenty of other strong showings from A&T riders, with several riders narrowly missing out on podium positions.

Jack Murray and Nathan Holt were joint fourth in the u10s event, John White lost a third place run-off in the u13s match, whilst Max Evans suffered the same fate in the u16s category.

Reece Pollitt scored nine points for England on Saturday, as England overcame a strong challenge from Wales to win the junior home international

match at Hull on Saturday. England took the honours on 53 points, ahead of Wales on 51, Scotland 38 and Ireland 28.
