BURNDEN runners scored two firsts in the Boulsworth Hill Fell Race.

The 6.5-mile race with nearly 1,000ft of climb is part of the weekend’s Trawden Show attractions at the Pendle village.

Lesley Fisher was first F55 and 58th overall in 56mins 47secs and Don Nichol was first M60 in 60:52 in 81st place overall.

Iain Conner, in his first experience of a fell race, put in a great performance to cross the finish in 67:58.

Nichol also tackled the midweek Pilgrim’s Cross Fell race, a six-mile challenge up Holcombe Moor, crossing the high point in a figure of eight route. He completed the tough course in 64:09.

Keith Thomas was the first member to finish in 48:06 with Isaline Pollitt also managing to dip under the hour in 58:50.

George Butler took part in the Liverpool Triathlon, part of the British Triathlon Championships series.

He covered the 1500m swim in Albert Dock in 20:37 – 33rd out of the water overall – and completed the 40km bike ride in 1hr 10mins 22secs before registering 38:54 for the 10K city centre run for a total time of 2:15:36.

Brothers Nick and Tim Taylor competed in the Bassenthwaite Standard distance triathlon in the Lake District.

Nick completed the swim in 30:54, the bike ride in 1:23:13 and the 1OK run in 51:50 for a total time of 2:49:23, while Tim clocked a total time of 3:05:00 with 38:24 for the swim, 1:25:47 on the bike and 56:59 for the run.
