YOUNG Bolton boxer Osman Aslam is set to return to the ring next month after extending his winning run last weekend.

The 22-year-old super bantamweight stretched his unbeaten professional record to six wins with a points decision against Bulgarian Stefan Slavchev at Bowlers Exhibition Centre, near the Trafford Centre, on Friday.

The Halliwell youngster, who is managed by Asif Vali – who also looks after heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury – and trained by respected Bolton coach Alex Matvienko from Elite Boxing gym, won all four rounds of the bout.

Now he plans to be back in the ring on October 1 at Emirates Old Trafford – the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club – when he is scheduled to be the main event.

Aslam told The Bolton News: "It feels great I have a good opportunity to show my skills and how good I really am.

"I know I train really hard in the gym but this will make me push that little extra as I am the main event."

"We've just won our September fight and after two days' rest I'm back in the gym.

"I will be in six days with just one day of rest ahead of that October fight.

"It gets harder and harder every day, and that's how I like it.

"My coach, Alex Matvienko, is doing a great job.

"I've seen and felt a huge improvement in my boxing abilities so we are definitely doing something right."

After his October outing, Aslam hopes the bouts keep on coming his way.

He added: "After the October fight my management team are hoping to get me out around November 11 and then December.

"I'd like to thank my team, my manager Asif Vali and head coach Alex Matvienko who are so good at what they do.

"We have a solid team which I am very thankful for.

"I also want to thank my sponsors, Imran Akram from Asons Solicitors, Applied Nutrition and Zak Vali Foundation and also the Elite Gym where I train."
